excellent boiled rice
ideal to accompany with vegetables
replaces bread in Asian diets
Basmati rice is an ancient rice from the Orient. It has remote origins and is widespread in Asia where it is the most popular because it is considered an excellent companion. This rice can therefore be replaced with bread in everyday life. In some countries including Nepal, for example, it is served on the plate together with boiled vegetables of different types and without salt: here is revealed one of the tricks of the foresight of the Asian people! The glycemic content is also very low compared to our local "peers" and this makes it a great ally against excess sugar!
Basmati is a very fine rice compared to local rice and is much longer. Cooking is very fast in boiling, 7 min maximum. The scents of basmati are varied between wood, sandalwood and spicy that bring back to the smoky Indian kitchens, rich in aromas and colours.
A practical tip: soak the rice in cold water for 30 minutes. This is to prevent it from falling apart during cooking. You can use it as well as with vegetables also for timbales or seasoned with dried fruit and spices.
